I hope this message finds you well. Please forgive my messaging you privately, but I was wondering if you would be available for a meeting of sorts sometime in the near future.
Though I am but a humble guest in your wondrous establishment, at home, I am innkeeper for much smaller, but somewhat similar lodging. I must confess that my interest here is professional, but I hope you will be amenable all the same.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely, Sumina Heartleaf Innkeeper of the Elderflower Inn
[ it's not too long of an elevator ride from the 24th floor at least, so she is soon at the front desk with a very curious and eager energy around her as she approaches. ]
[ As for his question, she can't help but chuckle a little nervously because, well.... it's a bit wacky here, man!! But she doesn't want to sound like she's complaining, so: ]
Already, it's been an unforgettable experience, sir. Even the parts that are a bit... mm. Curious?
[ ...help. She knows that look, because she is Exactly The Same when it comes to the inn... She loves it so much...!
She wants to bring up the ninjas, but, like. That wasn't his fault! Right? So instead, she asks after one of the million things she's been wondering about: ]
...W-Well. I simply mean the very... magical nature of this place! For example, to bring guests from very different dimensions, too... I can't help but wonder, how did you manage to reach all of us? Was there any sort of... criteria, I wonder...?
[ There's a tilt of his head as he thinks about the question, completely unaware of her pivoting. Hmm. How did he reach all of them, huh? ]
Everyone invited were people we knew would accept our invitation. That's the most basic criteria I can think of. After all, why would you invite people who would say no? No, no, you have to want to come to our hotel to be able to stay.
[ That is... A Criteria, alright. But seeing as their invitations came subconsciously (?) or something to that effect, she supposes magic well enough account for those finer details. After all, even with the Elderflower Inn, the people who are drawn to it are usually the people who want - or need - to stay. ]
Alright, then, I suppose I understand... Then, allow me ask about something else, Mister Bennet. Usually, a guests pays for their lodging, and to avail of a hotel's services. However... That seems to be the opposite, here. You are offering us a wish for staying, yes?
[ Mr Bennet considers this for a moment before giving a soft shake of his head. ]
We aren't offering anything without an exchange. A wish will be granted to those who use the hotel to the fullest extent. Run up your tab and perhaps you'll be granted something in return. That's how it works.
Right. I understand that, but... Is there no way for us to have a clearer understanding of what we should be working towards...? How long we should plan on staying, that sort of thing?
[ she needs, like... an itinerary for her "vacation,," ]
[ SIGH... Okay. This is an interesting way to answer a guest's questions, though she can't really fault him for it! There are some things she has to be vague about when it comes to her family's business, too. ]
Ah... Very well. I suppose it might not even be entirely up to you, isn't it, Mr. Bennet? You may be the concierge, but you might not be the owner. Unless...?
[And Kaveh will show up at the appointed time!! He's dressed down for the evening, going without his cloak and most of his ornaments, hair pinned up off of his neck. Mehrak floats along behind him; he looks around when he arrives, checking to see if Mr. Bennet is here first.]
[ And here is Mr Bennet! He looks exactly the same as he always does. A vague... male... shaped figure with... features on his face. Something like that.
He'll give a cheerful wave to Kaveh as he sees him and then beckons him forward so they can grab a table. ]
Hello, hello, Mister Kaveh! It is lovely to see you as always.
[He is far more forgettable with features than without them, probably.
Kaveh was, admittedly, primed to come in here and be a Karen about all the Incidents, but Mr. Bennet's friendly greeting sets him off-kilter. Maybe he can backslide into politeness... at least at first...]
Ah--yes, thank you. I didn't have the opportunity to tell you, but my room is beautiful. I appreciate the touches of home. [Even though it is a bit too big and lonely, but sometimes you're in denial about that and you just go find people to hang out with on other floors so it's fine. We're all good here.]
[ Wow, he is but an innocent hotel manager?! No need to go full Karen on him, really! He's just a little guy!
But he will sit with Kaveh and put one leg over the other, folding his hands on his knee and smiles brightly back at Kaveh. ]
Oh, that's wonderful to hear. The Hotel certainly likes making sure its guests have a comfortable time within it. Personalized rooms are the least it could do.
[IT DOES, DOES IT. He lifts a hand to his mouth, thinking.]
If the Hotel feels that way, [and it's not really that hard to talk about it as if it's sentient, as expected of an extremely passionate architect,] then could you tell me what happened with those shadows? That sort of thing is impossible, where I'm from.
Mr Bennet looks thoughtful for a moment as he considers Kaveh's question. ]
Well, it certainly was not me who inflicted the shadows upon you all. I have no ability like that, haha. No, I think the Hotel just wanted to entertain itself. Sometimes it does things like that. But that's pure speculation, of course.
[Okay look Maid-chan apparently can't actually be injured or something and she was technically completely unharmed BUT IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING]
She wasn't really stabbed. And either way, we have plenty of facilities to help with injuries from the major to the minor. No one will ever be in grave danger in this Hotel.
A wound that leaves no scar is still a source of pain.
[Sorry Mr. Bennet, he's used to arguing with the most pedantic asshole of all time.
But he will... let Giselle's incident go for now, mostly because he didn't ask her if it was okay to bring it up and he gets the feeling she wouldn't want him to be kicking up a huge fuss on her behalf. So he taps his fingers, unsatisfied, but then he sits back with a sigh.]
[ At the very least, Mr Bennet seems to truly believe the Hotel would bring no harm to its residents. So, Kaveh can have that. ]
If a resident tries to attack and kill another resident, that's nothing I can be held responsible for. But I can guarantee that the Hotel does not want you to die. That would be counterproductive since the Hotel wants the residents to be happy and nurtured within it.
